20 minutes to understand the fit, then one hour to set up
We start with a 20-minute discovery call. Guided setup is a separate call of about one hour when your product list is ready. We build the account with you and finish with a controlled test. If the list is not ready, we will still get you going and show you how to finish it.
What we do together, in order
The discovery call takes about 20 minutes. Guided setup takes about one hour when the spreadsheet is ready.
We create your account
Your own Restockd site and dashboard address. We confirm the sign-in email there and then. Restockd emails a one-time six-digit code whenever an email user signs in, so there is no Restockd password to remember.
Your suppliers and products go in
One spreadsheet. It creates your suppliers, your storage sections and your products in a single pass. This is the part worth doing beforehand.
Your core staff
The people who will build or place orders, with the right type of access for each. Email users sign in with a one-time code. Where PIN staff are included, other team members can use a PIN in the paired Restockd tablet app.
Settings, the way you want them
Logo and colours, approval rules, business closure days and the assumptions behind the hours-saved figure. Supplier delivery days and cut-offs are set on each supplier record.
Suppliers who only order through their own website
For wholesalers who only take orders on their own website. Restockd builds the list, emails it to you and to whoever you allow to place orders, and holds the order open until somebody marks it placed. Placing it for you is in testing and is not switched on yet.
We send a few orders in test mode
Test mode diverts supplier emails to your test address, marked TEST and naming the intended supplier. It does not sandbox supplier websites, so checkout on a supplier site is still real.
Your product list, on one spreadsheet
This one CSV can create suppliers, sections and products in a single pass when the person importing may manage both products and suppliers. It does not have to be complete or perfect. Fifty lines of the things you actually order every week beats four hundred lines of everything you have ever bought. The file limit is 5MB and 5,000 product rows.
Download the templateComma-separated. Opens in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets.
What goes in each column
Only the first two are required. Everything else makes the ordering faster later.
Four things to check before you import
Worth reading before you fill it in rather than after.
A row needs a supplier
A row with no supplier name is skipped and reported. If the supplier name is new, Restockd creates it only when the person importing may manage suppliers. Otherwise the row is skipped. A product is never saved without a supplier attached.
An emailed supplier needs an order address
A new supplier can be created without an email, but Restockd cannot email an order to it until the address is added. A website supplier does not need a supplier order email, but it must be marked as ordered on its website and given an HTTPS store address.
Products are matched by name first, then by supplier code
A matching name updates the existing product. If the name has changed, a supplier code already held by a product for that supplier updates that product instead of creating a duplicate. Columns left out of the CSV keep their current values.
Keep a recognised header row first
The importer reads column names without regard to capital letters and accepts common aliases such as Product name, SKU and Cost. You may reorder the columns and remove optional ones, but keep name and supplier. The downloadable template is still the safest starting point.
Four things we will ask you on the call
Who needs an email login and who will use a PIN
Owners, Staff Managers and Order Placers sign in with email and a one-time code. Where PIN staff are included, other team members can use a six-digit or longer PIN in the paired tablet app. A PIN user can build, submit, approve or place website orders only when their saved rights and the account’s approval rules allow it.
Which suppliers will not take an email
Anyone you have to order from through their website. Bring the HTTPS address. If the site is unsupported, Restockd keeps that supplier’s order as a manual Portal orders task. If the supplier accepts email orders, you can configure it as an emailed supplier instead.
Your delivery days and cut-offs
Per supplier, roughly. It is what lets Restockd warn you that you are ordering a Thursday delivery from somebody who only delivers Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Your logo, if you have one
A PNG with a transparent background is ideal. If you do not have one your business name is used instead and it looks fine.
And if you cannot get to any of it
Come to the call anyway. We will build the list with you and it will take longer, that is all. Nobody has ever been turned away for arriving with a carrier bag of delivery notes.
